Artist of This Month: Ken Harris
This piece of dance animation by Ken Harris from "Mississippi Hare" ,and it comes from a Chuck Jones-directed cartoon.He worked on "Bugs Bunny", "Daffy Duck", "Wile E. Coyote",and "The Road Runner" under the direction of Chuck Jones for 28 years. After Warner Brothers closed he drifted to Hanna Barbara to draw "Tom and Jerry" at MGM under his old director Chuck Jones. His last main feature before retirement from MGM was "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" under Chuck's direction.
Harris came to the studio of independent animator Richard Williams in London, where he served as Richard's mentor as well as his employee. Harris's credits with Richard included A Christmas Carol (1971) — as animator of Ebenezer Scrooge — the opening titles of The Return of the Pink Panther (1975), as supervising animator for Vixey in The Fox and the Hound and the still-unfinished animated feature The Thief and the Cobbler.
